I’m currently writing this on Easter Sunday. Back on the chalk spending time with my family. My brother moved to Taiwan whilst i was traveling. It is i must admit a little strange not having him around.

The rents are currently packing to go away to morocco and they are giving me a lift back up to town. Which is nice.

The weather has be glorious. Not quite as warm as London but down here we get the added bonus of the sea, the horizon and the coast. the beach has been absolutely packed each day we’ve walked along the clifftop.

We also visited the family graves cleared them and said hello to the fam. A Lovely day.

Lord of the Rings is better than Game Of Thrones. The significance of sailing to ‘the west’ and its place in the modern collective unconscious

After the disaster of last week. This episode redeems itself. I spoke with Mike Rugnetta on twitter for some advice and got some cool tips on improving the audio quality easily and I put them into action. Really quite happy with how this episode sounds.

The content of the episode has annoyed a bunch of people which was kind of the point. That said tho i think my argument about Tolkien installing mythic archetypes in to our collective unconscious is a novel reading of LOTR to be sure. And if I say so myself… A good one.

If you listen to it LMK what you think, or share it around.

Note: I’ve run out of space in my soundcloud to post any more episodes, so from now on I’m just gonna be posting the direct libsyn link *shrug*.

The Ministry

Got a couple more rejections on trying to sell my first story co-written with Andrew Dana Hudson. But a story about a drug dealing queer solarpunk getting in to imperial entanglements with a Fash snapchat demagogue seems to be a hard sell… We’ll keep trying. The version of the story we have now is way better than we first wrote it. Im really happy with it. We’ll just have to keep trying.

Im thinking about submitting a talk to the London Science Fiction Research Community’s conference on crypto and solarpunk. But need a good angle. *puts on thinking hat*

Reading

I’m still reading Wounded By Love before bedtime. And I’m about 1/3 of the way though Wilding by Isabella Tree. I reckon i’ll break the back of it on easter Monday.

Music

Most of my train ride home on Thursday was spent listening to Aretha Franklin’s Young Gifted and Black album. Rock steady is such a tune

My old housemate and very good friend and collaborator Andrew Brown recentlymade me aware of Adult’s album holy pinto. It is extremely 2019 UK emo band of the best time. I’ve loving it.
