Had band practice with the new band on Monday.
We’re called: The Forest Bed.

It was our 4th practice in total so far. Things are sounding great. We seem to be developing ‘Sliver Jews’ vibes here and there. The one sentence review is ‘Slow Sad Country band’. Our first gig is on the 15th of April (I’m waiting for it to be announced before I post about it).

It’s remarkable how being in a band thats practicing regularly has shored me up in some ways. A gap in my life thats been missing for a long time. Even though I make music/plat guitar etc at home. I honestly hadn’t realised how deep being a ‘musician’ is engrained in my identity.

My degree might say “Philosophy of the Arts” but alongside Philosophy I some times forget that I DID study music at university level half a life time ago. Playing instruments and being in bands consumed my life as a teenager. It feels really good to be ticking the old dusty and empty check box thats marked “In A Band”.

Speaking of band stuff. Ma boy Elliot is back in my life after a long hiatus in Kent living with my long suffering parents!

Seriously. I scrimped and saved for this as a 17 year old. Still one of the best investments I’ve ever made.

I had another endoscopy this week. I was trying to convince the nurse to take a photo of me on my phone when I had the camera up my nose but he demurred 🙁 Anyway the good news is I don’t have Eosinophilic Esophagitis – I didn’t need a second autoimmune disease on top of the one I already had!

I had the gain up to high on my mic this week. Sorry for the room noise, it is every podcasters nemesis.

Some cool things in the pipe line.

Had a great business lunch on Wednesday with someone who runs a cool company.

I’m glad that folks like the youtube recommendations on Monday. I made the list when I should have been working.

Reading

I read another Warhammer 40k book this week. Watchers of the Throne: The Regent’s Shadow by Chris Wraight. I’ve been waiting for it to come out. It was really good. He’s one of my favourite black library authors.

After I burnet through that I started reading The MAGA Doctrine by Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk. It’s slow going. Im trying to force my self to read it. It’s interesting tho. Worth picking up if you want to understand what Trump’s base is up to.

Music

Every Opportunity this week has been spent listening to English deathcore band Infant Annihilator’s newest album from last year.

Its.. fucking brutal. Sonic claustrophobia is the term I’d use to describe this album.

This music video for the song ‘Three Bastards’ sums up everything you need to know about this band.

The poor quality of the hand washing litany graphic was getting on my nerves. I wanted a version I could print for meatspace dissemination. So I pulled the original graphics from <a href="https://www.who.int/gpsc/tools/GPSC-HandRub-Wash.pdf"a World Health Organization PDF and recreated the text with my extremely limited Inkscape skills: https://pig-monkey.com/media/images/hand-washing-litany.svg
