“I’ve written this to keep from crying. But I am crying, only the tears won’t come.”
Aleister Crowley, Diary of a Drug Fiend

I’ve been thinking a lot this week. (Insert dad joke about being careful and not hurting myself)

After 8 years of meditation I don’t really ‘talk to myself’ anymore in my head when I’m thinking. If I do its rare. It’s rather that I experience a low level pressure or heat in the back of my mind, and feel things. Then yesterday I read this essay on Epic games and it blew my mind right open. Several bits and pieces of previous half thoughts all slotted together and arrived fully formed. I just need to write them up.

What arrived was framing rather than the individual pieces. Narrative is strange.

Lockdown Week 13

I haven’t done much except watch the rain out the window.

My daily social media has reduced to an average of 12m02s in the last 33 days. I’m feeling really good about it. This is the probably the longest period I’ve gone with reduced social media intake ever. Whilst I didn’t look at social media very much whilst I was travelling though Asia last year, I still would binge on it when back at the hotel or drinking at a bar when wifi was available.

My daily average intake was probably much much higher than the 12 mins I’m working too right now. It feels good.

Update From The Island

Eve told Louie to say Dickbag instead of his classic ‘Hoo Ha’ catch phrase. Then he went around telling all the other folks on the island to say the same phrase. So now everyone on the island calls each other Dickback. It’s really funny.

Also Louie knows some truths

In other news, I finally moved and upgraded my house to the next hill over from Eve. So I decided to put a Tourist Telescope in my bedroom window so I can keep an eye on her house. Totally normal.

This week was one of those weeks where I didn’t know what I was going to talk about until about 20mins before I sat down to make it. I think it’s a really important topic around/for the future of software developement.

Reading

I started reading ‘Gathering Moss: A Natural and Cultural History of Mosses
by Robin Wall Kimmerer’
this week. Braiding Sweetgrass is one of my favourite books, and whilst I’m not very far into Gathering Moss its wonderful to be back along with Kimmerer.

I also finished reading ‘Life in the Fasting Lane: The Essential Guide to Making Intermittent Fasting Simple, Sustainable, and Enjoyable’.

Music

Twice have a new Kpop banger out.
