Category: Weeknotes ποΈ
A weekly missive from the virtual desktop of Jay Springett. Begun as an attempt to cultivate a regular writing and posting rhythm. Weeknotes newsletters cover what I’ve been; reading, doing, thinking about, and include links recommendations, a good meme and more. Every week without fail.
As Much or as Little
It’s your website. You can choose to write as much or as little as you want in a blog post.
Stars
I came across a new (to me) performance of Eriks Esenvalds’ Stars. It’s one of my favourite choral pieces.
Questions of Value
As the conversation circled the question of ‘value’ I was told I need to get better at doing the paid supporter ask.
Not Having Done
“If you enjoy Having Done so much, why do you have a hard drive full of hundreds of thousands of words of shit you haven’t finished?”
A Little Like Me
Every now at the right angle I’ll think “Oh hey that metahuman does look like me” but then it’s gone. Like recognising the features of someone you know in a stranger at a concert.
Grown and Grown
I went to a 40th birthday over the weekend and the night was wall to wall Jungle.
Different Lengths
I’ve spent the week trying to write things at/of different lengths. Sitting down with a timer, set to 20mins or 40. Just practicing to see how I go.
No Clear Container
I’ve felt a bit undirected in where I’ve been putting my attention this week. I did watch The World Excel Championship though.
Summer Chalk
I went down to the chalk for my Dad’s 70th (!!!) birthday. Saw lots of family, ate some lovely food at a local restaurant. It was great!
