I’m in Poland for Unsound Festival. I’m writing this from my hotel room. Full report next weekend. I <3 this city
I’m giving a talk titled Solarpunk – Life In The Future Beyond The Rusted Chrome Of Yestermorrow on Wednesday.
Tuesday I’m moderating an informal panel on Interspecies Solidarity, with Author Luke Turner and experimental nature film maker Amy Cutler.
Here’s a slide from the solarpunk talk:
I also wen’t back to the chalk for my Mums birthday during the week. We went out for lunch and it was really nice. They are also off to Asia next week with my Aunt to see my brother for his 30th. I think they are going to have an amazing time. Also my Dad bought a coat in the M&S sale for £4.50!?? WTF
At the weekend I went out with a bunch of folks and had fancy Thai food for a friends birthday. It was ok.
NOTE: As soon as I’m back from Poland I will continue work on migrating this blog to thejaymo.net
This weeks show is just me sitting down talking about stuff I want to talk about. Which is basically what this show is anyway.
Permanently moved is a personal podcast 301 seconds in length, written and recorded in one hour by @thejaymo
Dipping the Stacks
Formal objection to island fish farm lodged by a group of underwater fairies
The Social Media Lives of Men on House Arrest | MEL Magazine
THE MANUFACTURING OF GRETA THUNBERG – FOR CONSENT: THE POLITICAL ECONOMY OF THE NON-PROFIT INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX [ACT I]
A Calculation is Not a Judgement – Giles Lane – Medium
One of the key things I’ve learnt this week is an important one. Preparing a talk that is 1h long is way way different than writing a 20min long talk. Which is in turn very different from writing/making the 5min information dense essays I do for the podcast. Been fun to work on tho. Learnt a lot about myself and the process.
I read the brand new Warhammer 40k book Belisarius Cawl: The Great Work. It was actually really good.
Please enjoy this extremely 90’s live concert from Jean Michel Jarre in Barcelona. I’ve been watching it once a day pretty much. I’d have loved to have been there. IMAGINE
