Another week another week notes. I can’t belive were now one third of the way though 2021. Time is running really weird. My plans for this year post still feels like I wrote it yesterday.
I better pull my finger out…
We just got back from a long sunday walk in the woods, spring is really sproinging there.
I noticed that Matt over at Xenogothic (Remember that time he came interneting with me?) has just migrated his old blogspot photoblog into his main blog. I get the impression it took him ages but was well worth the effort, as he now as a complete archive.
I used to keep several themed photoblogs on Tumblr around 2010/2011 and I now wish I hadn’t nuked them in a rash fit of trying to rationalise my Internet presence. Migrating them into thejaymo.net in 2021 seems like a really nice thing I could have done. But alas old archives, ye are missed.
Tbh. I’m thinking of treating this blog both more seriously and less seriously in the coming months. I want to post more off the cuff thoughts and ideas in public. Maybe do some photoblogs etc too. WordPress are launching full site editing and I think I’m going to try and write a theme for this blog from scratch, doing all the theme.json etc.
I’m a full convert to the block editor now, and think it’s a powerful tool. I really want to just explore what ‘blogging as a medium’ means to me in 2021.
I’ve also have some interviews I’ve done that I have transcripts for, so I may also post the them here for ‘archive’ purposes etc. I was thinking I might also back date some photoblogs from when I went around eastern Europe and visited Chernobyl? As it was 10 years ago this month that we went. If you are paid supporter (or sub via email) you’ll receive them straight to your inbox.
Honestly I’m very grateful to everyone who has decided to become a regular paid supporter, either because of the podcast or just they enjoy my online vibe in general. Every new subscriber gives me more confidence that Lebenskünstler project that is ‘thejaymo’ is worth pursuing. If I can continue to grow my paid audience I may just jump in with both feet. Fuck about to find out as they say.
If you think brands twitter accounts bantering online is insufferable and weird, just wait till you see what’s coming next.

Dipping the Stacks
He stepped off a loading dock onto what he thought was solid ground and instantly found himself up to his chest in melted butter.
The Greater London area is home to thousands of parakeets, an invasive species that appears to be thriving in its new urban setting.
The prices people are willing to pay for Pokémon cards are very high, but to be honest that is pretty normal collector stuff.
There’s a short section — not even a page long — in the back of the 1979 “Dungeon Master’s Guide” in which Dungeons & Dragons co-creator Gary Gygax includes a list of “inspirational and educational reading.”
Yes, Kano has a laser that shoots out of his eyeball. That is as normal as breakfast. We’re in a fantasy world. It comes with the territory.
As I mentioned last week Ciaphas Cain: Duty Calls came out on audio book so I dropped everything and have been listening to that. 5 books in and the narrator Stephen Perring is Ciaphas Cain to me now. His performances have been consistency brilliant.
So this arrived on Wednesday and I’ve spent quite a few hours perusing it dipping in and out.
I’m increasing convinced people should probably log off and read a fucking book (any book about anything). There is so much in this book from 1998 that is weird and wild now. Let alone 25 years ago.
Also, how about the fact this second hand book off ebay came from the house of commons library? I wonder if anyone read it? the CD-ROM is missing.
